SPRINGFIELD – A Rochester man has been arrested and charged for allegedly making a threat to shoot central Illinois Congressman Rodney Davis.
Randall Tarr, 64, was arrested Thursday and appeared in federal court in Springfield, according to a release.
Tarr allegedly called Davis’s Decatur office Nov. 25 and left a profanity-filled voicemail message in which he threatened to shoot the congressman.
He faces several charges, including one count of making a threat to a federal official, which carries a statutory maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison.
Tarr was released from custody and placed on home detention and location monitoring, according to the release. He also must participate in drug and alcohol screening and a mental health evaluation.
His next court appearance is Dec. 17.
