BLOOMINGTON – The weather did not stop community members from gathering Monday to celebrate Veterans Day inside the McLean County Museum of History.
“Today, Nov. 11, 2019, marks the 100th anniversary of the first commemoration of what we now call Veterans Day,” said keynote speaker Illinois National Guard Staff Sgt. Keith Albaugh.
“As a nation the most important tool to help those who served is all of you sitting in front of me,” he said. “It’s the friends, family, co-workers, and neighbors of our veterans. I ask that you remember our veterans not only today, but every day.”
The annual ceremony was hosted by American Legion Post 56.
