MONTICELLO – The treasurer of the Monticello Community Unit School District Athletic Boosters has stepped down amid theft allegations.
A news release from the Monticello Police Department said money has been taken from Monticello Athletic Boosters.
Police said the case has been sent to Piatt County State’s Attorney Dana Rhodes, who would file formal charges of theft between $500 and $10,000 against Sharilyn Droege.
The news release said the Athletic Boosters organization is separate from the Monticello Community Unit School District and no district funds were stolen.
