BLOOMINGTON – A Bloomington man has been found not guilty by reason of insanity relating to the stabbing two people and attacking another in downtown Bloomington last year.
Jason Hopkins, 36, had been charged with attempted murder and aggravated battery for the August 2015 incident. Both the state and the defense agreed during a court appearance Hopkins was too mentally ill to understand the nature of his actions.
Hopkins has now been returned to the state mental hospital he had been receiving treatment at after being found unfit to stand trial.
