BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington officials met Thursday night with various downtown stakeholders to discuss the future of downtown.
Community Development Director Tom Dabareiner explained they need input to figure out the next steps in their comprehensive plan.
“They’re small items, everything from way-finding signs to major parking decisions,” said Dabareiner. “Types of uses to emphasize – do we want apartments? Do we want more retail?”
Owner of Red Raccoon Games and Kelly’s Bakery & Cafe Jamie Mathy said there has been a lot of progress in the 11 years he’s owner a business downtown, but more work needs to be done.
“I think that we still have some parking things that we need to talk about,” said Mathy. “We have residents and employees that are parking in spots that I would like to see made available for customers.”
Mathy added there are sewer and water issues which need to be taken care of as well. Plus, he said there is still a problem dealing with where to put dumpsters and doing recycling downtown.
