
Hudson – Mary Lou Hedstrom, 76, of Hudson passed away at 9:35 a.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Heritage Health in El Paso, Illinois.
Her funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomington with Pastor Christine McNeal officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Inurnment will be at St. John’s Lutheran Church Columarium in Bloomington. Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Mary Lou was born on July 22, 1940 in White Hall, Illinois, a daughter to Orville Ray and Floy Marsh Ricks. She married Alvin Hedstrom on June 30, 1960 in Bloomington, Illinois.
Surviving is her husband, Alvin Hedstrom of Hudson; son, Randy (Jodi) Hedstrom of Mechanicsville, VA; daughter, Krista (Scott) Haynes of Ellsworth; one grandson, Dylan Hedstrom of Richmond, VA; three step-grandsons; sister in-law, Eila Cagle of Salt Lake City, UT; and her constant companion, Sassy.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
After her marriage and raising her children, Mary Lou began her work in the emergency room at Brokaw Hospital in Normal as the unit secretary for 20 years before her retirement. She then volunteered at the Prairie Aviation Museum in Bloomington.
Mary Lou was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha Service Sorority and served as past Treasurer.
She always had a smile and provided help to many she came in contact with. Mary Lou was deeply loved and will be truly missed.
