BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington-Normal’s west side is not included in a map for Metronet.
The Indiana based company is scheduled to bring gigabit internet services along with television and phone to the area later this fall.
West side Bloomington Alderman Scott Black tells WJBC’s Dan Swaney the needs of businesses and residents in the area will not be met.
“I think contacting the company directly is fantastic, but I think it’s important that we make a public statement that shows that we’re committed to seeing all parts of our community grow,” said Black. “And all parts of our community gets access to the use of critical types of infrastructure. I mean, the internet is not a luxury it’s a utility.”
City officials plan to meet with Metronet next week.
