NORMAL – First Student, the company which handles busing for Unit 5, believed Friday afternoon the issues seen through the first couple days of school are improving.
Communications Director Marlaina Wolfe said Friday morning was much smoother than Thursday or Wednesday.
“We recognize that there has been some issues and we are willing to accommodate these parents as the issues come to us and deal with those issues,” she said.
Unit 5 Superintendent Mark Daniel agreed things are improving.
Wolfe added there is a procedure in place for contacting families about the problems.
“As the drivers provide the staff here at First Student with the information of what’s going on on the buses, we then provide that information to the district,” said Wolfe. “They have an outreach program that is sent out to the district. Parents in the district should be familiar with that program.”
Wolfe said First Student’s primary objective is to provide safe transportation for students.
