BLOOMINGTON- An apartment complex in Bloomington was damaged in an afternoon fire Wednesday, displacing five families, but causing no injuries.
Bloomington Fire was called to a structure fire in the 400 block of West Graham at 4:47 Wednesday afternoon. Upon arrival, crews called in support from the Normal Fire Department, as well as other units.
Crews eventually used a ladder to rescue a family on the second floor of the complex, which everyone escaped down with no injuries.
Damage of the complex was estimated at $15,000 with fire damage being confined to the first floor, and some smoke damage in the second floor. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The Red Cross is assisting the 10 adults and two children displaced due to the fire.
