CHICAGO – Chicago Bears center Hroniss Grasu is officially done for the year after tearing his ACL during practice at Soldier Field on Saturday.
The non-contact injury rose question about field conditions following the practice, but defensive lineman Akiem Hicks didn’t see any issues.
“I think the turf is fine. It’s in the same condition that I played on about three or four times since I’ve played in the NFL,” said Hicks. “I’m familiar with how it feels and it seems like it’s in the same condition.”
The team returned to Bourbonnais Monday. Hicks said the team needs to control their emotions – the sidelines nearly Saturday after two players got into a scuffle.
“I’m just as aggressive and want to get after it as anybody else, but you’ve got to be able to pull that back and play together as a team. Especially when we’re going against each other,” said Hicks. “We’ve got to take care of each other, make sure we get to the season healthy.”
The Bears have their first preseason game Thursday in Chicago against the Denver Broncos.
