SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois State Board of Elections is holding off on a final decision on whether it will put off their review into the campaign spending of Auditor General Frank Mautino.
The board considered suspending the review to accommodate a federal probe seeing answers to many of the same questions from Mautino’s time as a state representative.
Among the issues drawing state and federal scrutiny, more than $200,000 spent at an alderman-owned service station. Mautino is said to be cooperating with the federal probe. The state board will revisit the issue July 11.
