SPRINGFIELD – Some state lawmakers are pushing legislation they believe could help alleviate a growing heroin problem in Illinois.
A plan was laid out Monday that if approved, would take preventative measures in the fight against heroin abuse including the use of specialized courts for drug offenders and making the drug NARCAN more available.
NARCAN helps counteract the effects of a heroin overdose. The bill would also limit the amount of prescription pain medication a pharmacist could give a patient.
