BLOOMINGTON – Unemployment numbers continue to slide across the state.

In Bloomington-Normal unemployment in December of 2014 fell almost two percentage points compared to one year ago.  The unemployment rate in the Twin Cities now stands at five-point-three-percent.

Unemployment rates were several points lower in the Champaign, Danville, and Peoria areas.  Rates also fell in all 102 counties for the second consecutive month and the sixth time out of the last seven months.  While the unemployment rate fell in the Bloomington-Normal area, the number of non-farm jobs fell by 900 from a year ago.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
