BLOOMINGTON – McLean County Board members have become the first to approve incentives for contraction of a 47,000-square-foot brewery in north Normal.
Destihl Brew Works is seeking an extension of an enterprise zone which calls for tax abatements on building materials. Destihl plans to build a $14 million brewery that the company says will generate 70 jobs. Republican George Wendt cast the only no vote.
Bloomington, Normal, Gibson City and Ford County would all have to sign off on the enterprise zone extension for it to take effect. The enterprise zone is set to expire in June. Local governments have filed an application to extend it.
