WASHINGTON – If you’re going to be flying as a family a new requirement may be coming to keep you aware if seats are available together or not.
U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Taylorville) has a cosponsored provision included in the upcoming FAA reauthorization bill that will tell families traveling with kids if their seats are not all next to each other when booking tickets. Davis said creating the provision came from personal experience and that of people that work in his D.C. office.
“There have been so many times on my flights where the flight attendant gets on the intercom and says, ‘we need someone to give up their seat so their family can sit together,’ and that happens to often,” said Davis. “We want to put this step in that’s not going to cost taxpayers or airlines any money.”
The reauthorization bill also includes a step to create an independent non-profit corporation that would begin to oversee the nation’s air traffic control and the air traffic control workers.
