Marylynn Sandel
Marilynn “Jean” Sandel, 87, of Normal, went to be with the Lord at 5:15 a.m. on Jan. 18 at LeRoy Manor in LeRoy.
There will be no visitation or services locally. Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home is handling cremation arrangements. Services will be held in Mansfield, Ohio later this spring. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Humane Society of Central Illinois, 423 N. Kays Drive, Normal 61761. She was born Aug. 12, 1927 in Mansfield, daughter of Willis and Henrietta Schafer Harris. She married Walter Reed Sandel on September 21, 1946 in Mansfield.
Surviving are two sons, Marvin (Darla) Sandel of Bloomington and Martin (Karen) Sandel of Panama City Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren, Jennifer Sandel of San Francisco, Calif., Jared (DeAnn) Sandel of Miami, FL and Rachel (Eric) Morse of Chicago. Also surviving are two great-grandchildren, Tessa and Eva Morse.
Jean enjoyed working her entire life in retail and as a bookkeeper.
She enjoyed raising Doberman Pinschers, baking, boating on Lake Erie and volunteering at her church, First English Lutheran in Mansfield. Jean was an avid fan of THE Ohio State University and the Cleveland Browns.
