BLOOMINGTON – An outdoor center just several miles away from Lake Bloomington will be the setting of a weekend retreat that will benefit a local organization.
Cold Roll: A Fat Bike Weekend Adventure will take place at Timber Pointe Outdoor Center in Hudson starting on Jan. 30. Bloomington Cycle and Fitness is working with Easter Seals Central Illinois to put on the getaway. Lauren Hardy with Easter Seals described what those in attendance can expect from the outdoor center.
“It’s a very unique center,” Hardy said. “It has trails, it’s in the woods, it looks beautiful in the snow and it’s only about 12 miles north of Bloomington. It overlooks Lake Bloomington so people can look out to the lake. It’s a great view for everyone and perfect for riding on fat bikes.”
All of the proceeds of the event will benefit Easter Seals.
“It all helps the children and families of Easter Seals,” said Hardy. “Children with disabilities and their families come to Easter Seals to receive therapy services. In order to keep receiving those services, we need to provide them funds. Events like Cold Roll help us do that.”
Karen Davis from Bloomington Cycle and Fitness said they’re happy to help a local organization like Easter Seals.
“That was really important to us and that’s really what this weekend is all about,” Davis said. “It’s not about us selling bikes, it’s about getting people out there for Easter Seals.”
Information on the event, a full schedule of activities and information on how to sign up is located at both Bloomington Cycle and Fitness and Easter Seals’ websites.
