SPRINGFIELD – An investigative reporter doesn’t see anything out of bounds from one month of the governor’s appointment calendar that was finally released by the administration.
Illinois Times reporter Bruce Rushton says he wanted the April 2015 appointment calendar after Governor Bruce Rauner left a Holocaust remembrance event early last year. Rushton says an email asking where the governor went didn’t produce any results.
“They didn’t even say ‘Have a nice day.’ Nothing, complete silence, no response,” Rushton said. “That was why I requested the appointment calendar.”
Rushton said he then sued the administration after the attorney general issued an opinion that the appointment calendar was a public record.
Regardless, details about where Rauner went were later revealed in the media. Rushton said the governor went to a leaders meeting and upon a cursory review of the calendar nothing stuck out as being “out of bounds.”
