SPRINGFIELD – Gov. Bruce Rauner has announced a deal on four-year collective bargaining agreements with several unions, including the Service Employees International Union. That doesn’t include the SEIU Healthcare union.
The governor’s office said the total number of ratified agreements is now at 17 representing more than 5,000 employees.
Rauner says the new deals include changes to insurance policies, performance incentives, a program to facilitate more cooperation between unions and management to find cost savings and other terms–all of which the governor’s office says the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees refuses to accept. Rauner singled out AFSCME in a press release Wednesday, saying the union stands on the opposite side of negotiations from their own colleagues.
AFSCME said it is committed to reaching a fair agreement and the union’s goals include wages that sustain a family, affordable health care, retirement security and a voice on the job.
