Douglas Morgan Hamm, 55, of Bloomington, passed away at 7:13 p.m. on Nov. 8 at his home.
Doug was born on Nov. 9, 1959 in Springfield, a son to Robert D. and Kathryn (Thompson) Hamm Sr. He attended St. Agnes Grade School and Springfield High School and was a graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
Following his passion, Doug was a sports reporter for the Bloomington Pantagraph for many years. Doug was also a dedicated, caring and loving son to his Mother and they were best of friends. One would often find them watching and cheering for the Cardinals or Packers his favorite teams or enjoying riverboat cruises. Doug loved music of all genres, especially the Grateful Dead, and sharing his favorite tunes with those he loved.
Doug is survived by his loving Mother Kathryn A. Hamm; brothers, Robert D. Hamm, Jr. (Judy), Bernie L. Hamm and Kevin J. Hamm (Brenda); uncles, Bernie Hamm and Denny Hamm; nieces, Lisa, Lori, Samantha, Audri, Robin and Alyssa; nephews, Jason, Brandon, Christian and Ben; many cousins; devoted friend, Dawnja Armstrong and many long-time friends and neighbors.
Doug is now joined with his father, Robert D. Hamm, Sr., his beloved dog, Logan and many past relatives and friends. His memory will live on with his gift of organ donation through Gift of Hope and in the thoughts of those left behind.
The family of Doug has entrusted Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington to handle his arrangements. Cremation rites will be accorded and a Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St. John’s Hospice Program, Springfield, the Alzheimer’s Foundation or an organization of the donor’s choice in Doug’s name.

Jimetta Yvonne Walker, 64, of Bloomington passed away at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 9 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Eastview Christian Church, Normal, with JK Jones, officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Monday at the church.
Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Bloomington. Memorials may be made to the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home, Bloomington.
Ms. Walker was born May 9, 1951 in Chicago the daughter of Jimmy and Mabel (Jones) Walker.
She had been employed at Meijer Inc., Normal and was a member of Eastview Christian Church.
Jimetta is survived by two daughters, Ronnye Walker, Miami, Fla., and Danyelle Walker, Bloomington; one son, Corey (Karen) Walker, Bloomington; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren and two sisters, Cynthia Walker, Chicago and Pamela Walker, Normal.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Marilyn Walker and three brothers, Stephen and Donald Walker and J.C. Rhodes.
