SPRING LAKE – The Tazewell County coroner’s office has released the name of the man found dead in a drainage canal near Spring Lake on Wednesday morning.
Tazewell County Coroner James Baldi said the man is identified as William McConnell, 52, of Havana. News partner WMBD reports the man’s death appears to be accidental, and he was most likely fishing in the area of Spring Lake and Woodley roads.
WMBD says rescue crews were first called to the area Tuesday night when someone noticed a vehicle next to the area.
