BLOOMINGTON – Behind the second consecutive 30-point effort by Justin Bocot, the Bloomington Flex won their home opener 112-83 over the Gateway Steam in Midwest Professional Basketball Association play.
On an afternoon that saw the hosts raising a banner to honor their perfect 2014 season, the Flex used a 30-0 run from the middle of the first quarter to the middle of the second to balloon their lead from 13-7 to 41-7, with a break at 30-7 to end the first quarter.
Bocot was one of six Flex players in double digits in scoring. C.J. Hampton added 16, Anthony Slack 14, Fabyon Harris and Chris Colvin each had 12, and Matt Salley scored 11. The Flex shot 61 percent from the floor, while holding Gateway to 39 percent on 31-of-79 shooting.
Slack, Salley and Bocot each had 8 rebounds for the Flex, who evened their record at 1-1. Gateway fell to 1-3.
Curtis Mosely, Jr. led the Steam with 15 points. Jake Anderson added 12. Mike Gills, who played in Bloomington in 2012, scored 9, while former Bloomington High School star D’Mitri Riggs added 4.
The Flex host the St. Louis RiverSharks Thursday at U.S. Cellular Coliseum at 7:05 p.m.
