Dale E. Nagel, 74, Chenoa died at 8:03 am Sunday, September 6, 2015 at his residence in Chenoa.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa with Pastor Jeremy Latzke officiating. Burial will be in Chenoa Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday, September 9, 2015 and 9:00 to 9:45 am Thursday at the memorial home. The family suggests memorials be given to the Community Cancer Center, Normal.
Dale (aka: The Duck Hunter) was born October 24, 1940 in Bloomington, IL the son of Virgil and Virginia Dale Nagel. He married Joyce Underhill on December 4, 1961 in Pontiac, IL. She survives in Chenoa.
Other survivors include 1 daughter, Diane Nagel, Paducah, KY, 1 son, Don Nagel, Chenoa, 2 brothers, Dean Nagel and Fred (Cecelia) Nagel, both of Chenoa, 1 sister, Ruth Ann (Dale) Rapp, Gridley, 2 grandchildren, Ashley (Jacob) Holzhauer and Alexis Nagel, and 1 great grandson, Jayce Holzhauer.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Dale was a longtime farmer and plumber retiring in 2009. He was an avid duck hunter and was the very first to use the “Moto Duck” on the Illinois River. He and Joyce made the “Moto Ducks” in their shop. Dale enjoyed hunting on the Illinois River, southern Illinois and Canada with his friends each year.
