Judy was born on Sep. 20, 1943 in Merced, California, a daughter of Fred (Jack) and Dorothy (Dody) Church Lantz.
She graduated from high school in 1960 and joined the Women’s Army Corps. While stationed in Washington D.C. Judy met and married JC Kessinger on June 29, 1963. They eventually settled in California to raise their three sons; Jamey, Joseph, and Jayson.
After retiring from the Employment Development Department of the State of California, where she worked as a computer programmer, Judy and JC moved to Wapella. Judy spent her time reading her Bible, quilting, and enjoying her family – especially her seven beloved grandchildren.
Judy is survived by her husband of 52 years, JC Kessinger of Wapella, Ill., their three sons; Jamey Kessinger (Angie) of Heyworth; Joseph Kessinger (Christina) of La Porte, Ind.; and Jayson Kessinger (Monica) of Heyworth; and seven grandchildren; Justin (Jessie), Joshua, Jordan, Jacob, Katelyn, Lucas, and Jonathan; and great-granddaughter Raelynn. She is also survived by her three brothers; Jerry, Jimmy, and Jackie Lantz; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Judy’s family takes comfort in the knowledge that she is with Jesus, she was our rock and will be terribly missed.
