Ivan Henderson
Ivan F. Henderson, 87, of Normal, passed away at 8:35 a.m. on Jan. 27 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.
His funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington with Pastor Gary York officiating. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. on Friday prior to the service at the memorial home. Full Military Rites will be accorded by the Bloomington-Normal American Legion Honor Guard and Masonic Rites conducted by Masonic 46 A.F. and A.M.
Interment will be at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
Ivan was born on July 28, 1927 in Edelstein, Ill., a son to Haskell and Elsie Aman Henderson. He married Betty M. Hancher on Oct. 23, 1949 in Chillicothe. She preceded him in death on May 24, 2001. He later married Ramona Walker on Oct. 4, 2004 at Eastview Christian Church in Normal. She survives.
Surviving is a daughter, Diana (Terry) Coombs of Bloomington; a son, Tom (Ginger) Henderson of Bloomington; two stepchildren, Sherry (Mark) Hubbard of Bloomington, Gail (Dan) Bozarth of El Paso; brother, Wilmer (Mollie) Henderson of Belleville, Miss.; seven grandchildren, Brian, Kim, Evan, Tara, Kallie, Daniel, Andrea; five step grandchildren, Matt, Aaron, Adam, Jennifer, Sarah; six great grandchildren; and nine step great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his parents; four brothers and three sisters.
Ivan was a United States Air Force Veteran and served in Occupied Japan at the end of WWII. He retired from Standard Oil and Farm Supply where he delivered home heating oil for homes and farms in Central Illinois. He was a member of the Eastview Christian Church, Masonic Lodge 46, and Shriner Mohammed Temple of Peoria.
He enjoyed fishing, golfing, traveling, his poker club, St. Louis Cardinals, and was an avid ISU Redbirds fan. He also volunteered at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal and assisted with many of the Shriner Mohammed Temple of Peoria activities.
Ivan never knew a stranger and had a kind heart. His biggest joy was being with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ivan’s generosity and ornery sense of humor will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Margaret Tarrant
Margaret Tarrant, 83, of Bloomington, passed away at 4:30 a.m. Jan. 26 at her daughter’s home in Mt. Pulaski.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Epiphany Catholic Church, with Rev. Eric S. Powell officiating. Burial will be in Ireland at a later date. There will be no visitation. Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, is in charge of arrangements.

She was born Jan. 28, 1931 in Flushing, New York, a daughter of Joseph and May Lynch. She married Patrick Tarrant on Aug. 25, 1951. He preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 2005.
Surviving are her children, Joseph (Nora Ann) Tarrant of County Kerry, Ireland, Kevin (Leslie) Tarrant of Corvallis, Ore., Brian Tarrant of Bloomington and Kathleen Tarrant of Mt. Pulaski; seven grandchildren, Sheila, Oisin, Orla, Katie, Sean, Ciara and Patrick; and three great-grandchildren, Bradley, Thomas and Connor.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
Margaret went above and beyond any expectations in raising her children and spending time with her grandchildren. She traveled often to Ireland to assist in caring for her grandchildren there. She also took great pride in her work accomplishments. In New York, she taught 3rd grade at the Eastern Military Academy and also worked at Chase Manhattan Bank. After her children were in school, she worked at Woolworth, Sears and Walmart. She was a member of Epiphany Catholic Church in Normal and its Altar and Rosary Society in addition to being a Cub Scout den mother.
In lieu of flowers or other memorials, please say this prayer for Margaret: “Eternal rest grant unto Margaret, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.”
Ronald Walker
Ronald E. Walker, 81, Fairbury, died at 5:28 p.m. Jan. 27 at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with Pastor Floyd Blackard officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury. The family suggests memorials be given to the 1st United Methodist Church, Fairbury.
Ron was born June 17, 1933 in Fairbury the son of George and Inez Carter Walker. He married Jane Stevens on Nov. 23, 1957 in Fairbury. She survives in Fairbury.
Other survivors include two sons, Matthew (Maricon) Walker, Honolulu, Hawaii, Doug (Patty) Walker, Frankfort, one daughter, Amy (Chuck) Feeney, El Paso and six grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Ron was a 1951 graduate of Fairbury-Cropsey High School and had attended Southern Illinois University and the University of Illinois. After college he enrolled in the United States Air force cadet program.
Ron owned and operated Walker Coal and Oil and Fairbury Scrap Metal for over 40 years. He was a member of the Tarbolten Masonic Lodge and Indian Creek Golf Club, Fairbury. Ron adored his grandchildren, loved his time on the golf course with family and friends and was an avid gardener.
