Oren R. Schaab, 82, of Normal, passed away at 6:25 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014 at Liberty Village of Leroy.
His funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015 at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington with Pastor Seth Schutte officiating. Visitation will be from noon until the time of service at the memorial home on Saturday. Full Military Rites will be accorded by the Bloomington-Normal American Legion Honor Guard.
Interment will be at Scogin Hill Cemetery in Bloomington. Memorials may be made to Illinois Special Olympics, WJBC Brotherhood Tree or to the donor’s choice.
Oren was born on June 23, 1932 in Normal, a son to Wilhelm G. And Lena Demler Schaab. He married Rose Ann Hendricks on July 31, 1954 in Bloomington.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Kimberly (Eric) Schaab-Ozier of Mahomet; a son, Randy (Jill) Schaab of Normal; three sisters, Arlene Gittings of Bloomington, LaVerne Bittner of Fairbury, Martha West of Congerville; and five grandchildren, Colleen (Seth) Schutte of Farmer City, Heidi Schaab of Normal, Kyle Ozier of Mahomet, Regan Schaab of Normal and Parker Schaab of Normal.
Preceding him in death are his parents; a grandson, Matthew Ozier; two sisters, Bernice Leibel, Joan Schaab; and a brother, Gene Schaab.
Oren was born and raised in Normal. He was educated through Metcalf, University High School and Illinois State University where he received his Bachelors and first Masters Degree in Industrial Technology, with addtional Masters Degrees in Counseling and School Administration. With these, he taught for 36 years through District 87, first at Bloomington Junior High, then at the Area Vocational Center through Bloomington High School where he was the guidance counselor promoting the program to high school students and businesses throughout McLean County. Oren also helped start the GED program at the McLean County Jail helping educate inmates to obtain their GED.
He proudly served with the United States Army and was an active member of the Normal American Legion Post 635. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and Illinois State University Redbird basketball.
Oren was a loving husband, father and grandfather who supported his family in all their activities and outings.

Everett Wahls
Everett J. Wahls, 100, of Chenoa, died at 12:30 pm, on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014 at Evenglow Health Center, Pontiac, Ill.
His funeral will be Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Chenoa. Burial will follow in Chenoa Cemetery, Chenoa. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to his services at the church on Saturday. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, Chenoa, or Evenglow Health Center, Pontiac.
Mr. Wahls was born Feb. 21, 1914 in Chenoa, the son of Louis and Margaret Schuler Wahls. He married Ethel McKinley on Jan. 13, 1940 in Chenoa. Ethel died May 19, 2006. Everett was a life-long farmer until retirement in 1969.
Survivors include two daughters, Marcia (Jim) Faltinek, Glenview, IL; and Jorja (Bob) Stephens, Peoria; four grandchildren, Jason (Nicole) Faltinek of Palatine, IL; Marla (Alton) Smith, of St. Louis, MO; Christopher (Ellie) Stephens of Champaign; and Alex (Chelsea) Stephens of Peoria; and 7 great grandchildren, Jackson and Tessa Faltinek, Stella and Ruby Smith and Alex, Maddy and Finn Stephens.
Everett was known for his generosity and positive attitude. He loved music and was an avid piano player which gave him and others such joy throughout his life. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Chenoa. Everett will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
