NORMAL, Ill. (WMBD) — A local police department got their Hollywood break after an ab-Normal cameo in a Netflix original show.
In a scene in season two of “Wednesday,” a mugshot of “Thing” sporting a stylish hairdo and mustache can be seen, and it is said that the picture was at the town of Normal Police Department, they said in a Facebook post.
“After the premiere of Wednesday Season 2 on Netflix, the world finally learned what we’ve known all along,” the post said.
Also in the post, to celebrate the occasion, the department posted a photo of two officers, Darien Bachman and Jeremy Flood, sporting the notorious “Wednesday” hairstyle.

“While the officers in these Wednesday wigs may not technically be the ones who cuffed the infamous hand. We think they wear the look well. Should this be the new uniform? Let us know,” the post said.
Bachman said he found out about the clip from a member of their community, before checking out the episode on Netflix himself, having previously not watched “Wednesday” before. After he saw the clip, he said he immediately had to post it.
He said that he believes that the reason their police department was named in the streaming series was simply because of the name of the town it’s based in.
“I think there’s a lot of different theories out there about why they picked the Normal, Illinois Police Department. One of the ones that I actually saw was it’s a show about a bunch of characters that are abnormal. So using a town in the middle of Illinois called Normal just seemed like the right choice for them,” Bachman said.
He also said it was an honor for the hit Netflix series to mention their police department by name.
“It’s pretty cool, I think. After I posted about it and a lot of the members of our community commented or they reached out just about how cool it was to be recognized on such a large frame like that. And, you know, honestly, we’re honored. We were absolutely honored,” he said.
