NORMAL, Ill. (WMBD) — The wheels on the bus go round and round as the song says, in Normal, however, they could be doing that on different routes.
On Tuesday, July 8, and Wednesday, July 9, Connect Transit will host an open forum to discuss “possible route updates, stop adjustments and increased frequency on select lines,” said Connect Transit marketing director Mark Huffman in a release.
One of the possible scenarios to be discussed is the discontinuation of the red express and replacing it with a more circular route called the “Mint”.
This route will also serve Menard’s, Sam’s Club, Pinecrest Apartments on Greenbriar Drive and Goodwill Industries on South Regency Drive.
Other route changes that will be proposed will be adjustments to the yellow/pink route. Changes to this route will include stop relocations and added service to Northbrook Drive.
Several destinations will have reduced travel times, including from Orlando Avenue to Uptown Normal.
The Blue and purple routes will experience increased frequency from once every hour to once every 30 minutes. Peak hours for blue line will be 6:00 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 2:30 and 5:30 p.m. Peak Purple line hours will be 5:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
The upcoming public meetings will take place in the Illinois State University Alumni Center at 1101 N. Main St. The public meetings will also take place at the Bloomington Public Library at 205 East Olive Street in Bloomington.
The sessions will take place 12:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., 5:00pm and 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wednesday sessions will also be held at 12:00 p.m., 2:00p.m., 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
