BLOOMINGTON – WJBC Brotherhood Tree organizers have extended the deadline for accepting gifts for families in need in McLean County.
That's because gifts are short, primarily for male and female adults and boys ages 6-8.
"It was sort of sad to see so many volunteers show up and then – all of the sudden – have nothing to do," spokesman Bob Bradley said.
Bradley is asking the public to drop off gifts at the Bloomington National Guard armory from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. He told WJBC's Scott Laughlin, you can also make a financial donation through Pay Pal.
"Then our Secret Santa elves who are working desperately to fill the need would have the luxury of being able to go buy gifts," Bradley said.
Bradley said the Brotherhood Tree is looking to provide gifts and food baskets to several hundred more families this year – a record 1,700 in all.
Bradley said volunteers are also needed for gift delivery on Saturday.
