BLOOMINGTON – Passenger numbers were down last month at Central Illinois Regional Airport, but that was expected.
“Really, January and February of 2020 were our quote on quote last normal moths before the pandemic hit in March,” CIRA’s deputy director Fran Strebing told WJBC’s Scott Miller.
“We know January of 2020 was a typical year for us and in fact we were building on some growth from 2019, but this January compared to last year, we were down 51.3% in passengers.”
Strebing says there is some optimism, as leisure travel has picked up over the last few months, with many heading to the sunshine state.
