BLOOMINGTON – Travel is expected to pick up in 2021 thanks to the coronavirus vaccine. But in order to do so you may eventually need a vaccine passport application.
CNN reports that several companies and technology groups have begun developing smartphone apps or systems for individuals to upload details of their Covid-19 tests and vaccinations, creating digital credentials that could be shown in order to enter concert venues, stadiums, movie theaters, offices, or even countries.
Tim Davis with Direct Travel in Bloomington spoke with WJBC’s Scott Miller.
“Folks will have to have some kind of proof of vaccination and good health. What form that is going to come in, we aren’t quite sure. It could be something attached to a passport or some sort of certification that you’ve had the vaccine. We do feel like that will be something that is part of our future,” said Davis.
Davis added that in the past, record or proof of immunization was needed to enter certain countries. “This will be something similar, but taken up a notch or two.”
