SPRINGFIELD – Gov. Pritzker is still mad at State Rep. Darren Bailey (R-Xenia), whose lawsuit against the governor – over the “stay home” restrictions – is making its way through a southern Illinois court. Pritzker says the numbers prove his point:
“Here’s the facts,” Pritzker said. “We are defeating this virus by virtue of having a “stay at home” order.”
Pritzker pointed to Bailey’s district as one of the least prepared to handle the pandemic, with the Number One county in death rate per capita from coronavirus. He’s appealing.
Illinois Department of Public Health director Dr. Ngozi Ezike tries to give the situation some perspective.
“I know that people are getting tired. We are tired of this pandemic. We all need to try to hang in there so we can prevent the loss of life of our loved ones,” Ezike said.
Illinois marked its highest one-day death toll to push the total to 2,125, with 48,102 cases.
