BLOOMINGTON – A Bloomington woman will be sentenced to mandatory prison time in December after a McLean County Jury convicted her of robbing a co-worker at gunpoint.
The jury late last week found Mary Harris guilty of armed robbery and unlawful use of a weapon. She was one of two people arrested for the hold-up last December outside Casey’s General Store on Fox Creek Road.
In a news release, McLean County State’s Attorney Don Knapp said Harris faces mandatory prison time of between 21 and 45 years in prison because a gun was used to commit the crime.
Authorities say Harris was an employee there. No shots were fired, although the co-worker handed over more than $5,000.
Knapp said the victim was incredibly brave to testify after suffering a “horribly traumatic experience.”
Harris will be sentenced December 13.
Co-defendant Calvin Harris, believed to be the woman’s brother, is awaiting a November 22 status hearing in McLean County Court.
