BLOOMINGTON – The local Salvation Army is thanking a Bloomington company for its extra help repairing a ruptured water heater.
The Salvation Army says Mid Illinois Mechanical replaced the water heater and donated the labor costs of $5,000. The company also repaired natural gas lines to the Salvation Army’s Safe Harbor Shelter which were damaged by the rupture. That knocked out service to the shelter’s dryers, stove and furnace.
Safe Harbor currently has working gas lines to the dryers, stove and furnace. Mid Illinois Mechanical plans to have one water heater running this week and the other heater replaced in the coming weeks.
The Salvation Army also says they were “overwhelmed” by the community’s response to their plea for help, which has included financial contributions and donations of towels needed because of the out-of-service dryers.
