SPRINGFIELD – Hunters in McLean County took about the same number of deer during the recent hunting seasons as last year.
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources reports 1,073 deer were harvested in McLean County during the recent archery, youth, firearm and muzzleloader seasons. That’s 17 fewer than last year.
Archery and firearm hunters each harvested nearly 500 deer in the county.
Statewide, preliminary numbers show 147,535 deer were harvested, an increase of 3,232 from a year ago.
