BLOOMINGTON – “Grandpa Rossy” is set to headline the 2017 Red Cross Evening of Stars.
David Ross earned the nickname while playing catcher for the Chicago Cubs the past two seasons – culminating in 2016’s historic World Series championship. Ross hit a home run in the final game of the series, becoming the oldest player to hit a homer in a World Series Game 7.
It’ll be the 24th year for the Evening of Stars, which is the largest annual fundraiser for the local Red Cross. This year’s event will be April 18 at the Marriott in Uptown Normal. Tickets can be ordered by calling the Red Cross at 309-662-0500.
