DEER CREEK – A Deer Creek man is a half-million dollars richer after winning an Illinois Lottery prize.
Lloyd Bates won the $500,000 prize with a $1 Quick Pick ticket that matched all five numbers – 11 – 20 – 21 – 27 – 45 – in a drawing on June 27.
“I can’t believe it!” Bates said.
The winning ticket was purchased at Casey’s General Store, 312 E. 1st Ave., Deer Creek. Bates presented his winning ticket at the Lottery Prize Center in Springfield and when asked about his plans for the windfall he said, “I am going to invest this money wisely.”
Casey’s received a bonus of $5,000, or one percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.
