BLOOMINGTON – The American Red Cross of Central Illinois is already sending help to Florida in anticipation of Hurricane Matthew.
Red Cross spokeswoman Colleen Moore told WJBC’s Terry James Thursday morning they sent out three volunteers. She said other offices across the region are sending volunteers as well.
“We also have our emergency response vehicles,” said Moore. “We have three of our emergency response vehicles, which is our ambulance looking-type vehicles, heading down there as well at this time – down to Orlando, Fla.”
Moore added the Red Cross is at one of its highest levels of response as the storm prepares to hit the coast.
“We see this as being a very intense need for individuals within these impacted areas,” she said.
Moore said it’s humbling to see people who are willing to drop everything to go help those in need.
