BLOOMINGTON – McLean County taxpayers are footing the bill for election workers that now may not be needed.
A judge has struck down a law allowing election day same day voter registration.
McLean County Clerk Kathy Michael is not a fan of the law.
“Who would vote yes to that bill that said only part of the state has to adhere to this and the other part of the state doesn’t?” said Michael. “I mean that’s what drives everybody crazy here in Illinois is when you see a stupid, ridiculous bill like this being passed.”
Former Illinois Governor Pat Quinn signed the bill that only requires counties with more than 100-thousand residents to offer election day voter registration.
