BLOOMINGTON – The YWCA of McLean County is partnering with many local organizations to spread throughout the Twin Cities and recognize National Voter Registration Day Tuesday.
Representatives from YWCA, Not in our town, the NAACP, the League of Women Voters and more will be helping register eligible voters.
Illinois State University student Sheldon Gooch said voter registration day is especially important to him as a college student.
“Too many times I hear students are registered to vote simply because they are disinterested in the process,” said Gooch. “However, it is important that us, as students, we have our interests heard and they are listened to.”
The League’s Kathy Tosh said they have been fighting for a long time to “make Democracy work.”
“And unless we get out the vote and have our voices hear, we cannot make Democracy work,” Tosh said.
McLean County Clerk Kathy Michael added early voting begins Thursday.
Representatives will be at the following locations on Tuesday:
- Uptown Circle from 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
- ISU’s quad near Schroeder Hall from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
