BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) — A former Chiddix Junior High teacher will remain in custody at the McLean County Jail pending the outcome of allegations he was possessed child sexul abuse material and enticed a minor.
That was the ruling Wednesday of a McLean County judge who denied the request of Andrew “Drew” Miller to remain free pending trial.
Miller was arrested June 17 after a warrant for his arrest was put out. The warrant included 42 charges relating to grooming, possession of child sex materials and indecent solicitation of a child.
During his hearing on Wednesday, a prosecutor said that another victim has come forward since the charges were announced.
They also said that more charges could be coming in relation to this victim. In total, there are seven victims for the 42 total charges.
In the packed courtroom, Miller’s attorney made the case for his release pending his trial, and that Miller has agreed to many conditions. In the end, the judge denied his request for release. He will remain in custody at the county jail.
Miller’s next appearance is set for July 29.
Miller was also a cheerleading coach at University High School and Lexington High School, as well as a teacher for Chiddix. Prosecutors say this is how Miller found and contacted his victims.
