UPDATE (11:09 a.m.) — A 13-year-old Springfield teen was killed in a single-vehicle wreck late Sunday night.
At 1:30 a.m. Monday, May 25, the McLean County Coroner was called to Carle Bromenn Medical Center on a report that the boy had died, Coroner Kathleen Yoder said.
The teen was a passenger of the mid-size SUV that wrecked on U.S. Route 136, under the I-55 overpass, she said.
An autopsy is scheduled for later Monday.
The incident remains under investigation.
MCLEAN, Ill. (WMBD) — One person is dead and another injured after a single-vehicle wreck in McLean County late Sunday night.
At 11:59 p.m. on May 24, Illinois State Police Troopers were called to the wreck on U.S. Route 136 under the Interstate 55 overpass near McLean, said Ryan Wagand, an ISP spokesperson.
When troopers arrived, they found one person had died and took another to the hospital, he said. No update on their condition was given.
Both lanes were closed until 6:07 a.m. No cause of the wreck was given.
No further information was made immediately available.
