BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) — Dutch Bros Coffee in Bloomington opened its doors early Wednesday morning, marking its official start in the city.
Dutch Bros is located at 502 IAA Drive, where the old Bandana’s Bar-B-Q building was. They opened at 5 a.m. on May 13 and were joined by Mayor Dan Brady, who helped serve some drinks.
Dutch Bros offers a variety of different coffee and energy drinks, but the shop isn’t just about the drinks; it’s also about the experience.
“We know coffee is subjective,” said Eliza Earring, Central Illinois region operator. “I can’t tell you that it’s going to be the best coffee you’ve ever had.”
“You might love something different, but you’re going to get the best service you’ve ever had, and you’re going to get people that are stoked to see you, and they’re going to put wind in your sails.”
The coffee shop saw over 3,000 people go through their line by 1 p.m. Wednesday, which shows that the Twin Cities were excited about the new shop.
“A vast majority of people are trying it for the first time, which is so exciting for us, where we’re trying to hit the ground running with that,” Earring said.
“It’s been really cool to see the community respond really well, but it’s also really cool to see people who’ve been in touch before in other states, and they’re now they’re really excited to have one closer to where they live.”
Dutch Bros is open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week.
The company also plans to open a store in Peoria at the corner of War Memorial Drive and University Street. City Councilman Alex Carmona, whose 2nd District includes that parcel of land, said the developer told him that Dutch Bros. could open here in Peoria this fall.
