PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — A man wanted for attempted murder has been found, the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office announced Friday morning.
Posts from the Peoria Police Department, the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office and the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office had been asking for information on the whereabouts of Christopher Richerson, 52, who was wanted for aggravated battery and attempted murder in Tazewell County.
Less than eight hours after an initial social media post, Sheriff Chris Watkins said his deputies were called to a home in the 1800 block of Kickapoo Creek Road after a person found an unknown person in his garage.
That person was Richerson, Watkins said, adding that he will be sent to Tazewell County.
The manhunt began Thursday when his empty vehicle was found in the 4400 block of North Carola Court, a residential area in northwest Peoria that backs up to Interstate 74 west of Sterling Avenue.

Officers with the Peoria Police Department, a Peoria County Sheriff’s Office dog, and a police drone were used to search the area, including the surrounding woods. He was not found.
