BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) — Bloomington crews continue to clean up debris after severe storms earlier this month, expecting to be done by Friday.
So far, crews have filled just under 400 trucks of debris since the storm. The director of public works for the city, Mose Rickey, says he is very happy with how things are going.
“I’m extremely happy with how the cleanup is going. I’m especially proud of our crews and all the hard work that the staff has been doing here of public works. It’s not easy work. It’s dangerous work,” said Rickey.
He also gives kudos to his crew for working long hours to get the debris cleaned up as soon as possible.
“Our crews have been away from home now since the storm for long hours, and they’ve continued on and done a great job in remediating a lot of the different brush issues that we were having,” said Rickey.
To make the cleanup crews’ jobs easier, Rickey gave some tips to help them out.
“One of the things they can do is keep their cars from parking in front of brush piles that need to be picked up. Right. We recommend at least ten feet away from any brush piles when possible. Further, if they could, you know, be in better,” he said.
Regular brush pickup will continue on its normal schedule once the debris cleanup has been completed.
