NORMAL, Ill. (WMBD) — The McLean County Chamber of Commerce hosted its spring job fair at Heartland Community College on Tuesday.
The job fair brought 45 different employers to the campus for students who will be joining the workforce soon.
“It’s an opportunity for community college students looking for internships, looking for part-time, looking for full-time positions to just come out and really engage with the community and see what jobs are available here,” said Madison Noble, manager of marketing and communications for the chamber.
A wide range of opportunities were at the fair, but recently, companies have been shifting back to an in-person format, leaving some remote positions less available.
“We see a really, honestly, a mix of both remote, hybrid, and in-person positions. We are seeing a trend to kind of go back to that in-person. We’re seeing a value and that interaction that you have with people and really developing, you know, you spend a long part of your life working. And so it’s important to work with people that, you know, trust and like,” Noble said.
Bloomington-Normal, on the other hand, is seeing more people come to town for work, giving employers a wide variety of potential employees to hire.
“We are continuing to draw people into our Bloomington-Normal community, and with that, we are having an absolute insane amount of people move here, and that’s going to be really awesome to continue to grow our community,” Noble said. “Super invested in making sure people love and live local.”
“We’re excited to just be a small little part of that, of bringing people into this community and making Bloomington Normal thrive not only for our education systems, but for our family and our businesses.”
This is the chamber’s first workforce event of the year, with many more to come later this year.
