NORMAL – The Normal Police Department is reporting on Wednesday that there have been reports of scammers impersonating them.

According to a Normal police Facebook post, scammers impersonating Normal police officers call people and claim they have unpaid parking tickets. The scammers will then threaten those they call with arrest if they don’t pay them.

They might also use the names of actual Normal police officers to make themselves seem more convincing.

Normal police will never call about parking tickets, according to the post. People should know that you should hang up if anyone calls asking to pay a fine with a credit card, gift card or by wiring them money.

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
