Bloomington City Council votes in Jeff Jurgens as new city manager

BLOOMINGTON – Jeff Jurgens will be Bloomington’s new city manager after a unanimous vote by the city council on Monday.

Jurgens is currently serving as the Deputy City Manager, his contract starts on May 6 and concludes May 5, 2027. He will replace Tim Gleason.

Bloomington Mayor Mboka Mwilambwe praised the council’s decision. “Mr. Jurgens will be stepping into the role, bringing his vast experience and strong dedication to public service, as well as a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities facing our city,” said Mwilambwe.

The mayor continued, “In Jeff, I believe we have found a leader who embodies the values of accountability, transparency and inclusivity that our central to our vision for Bloomington, his proven track record of collaborative leadership and problem-solving make him well suited to lead the city forward in the years to come.”

Jurgens’ salary will be $210,000 with six weeks paid vacation.
