NORMAL – Rivian announced more company-wide layoffs on Wednesday.

According to Rivian’s Corporate Communications Sr. Manager Kelli Felker, the layoffs will affect an additional 1% of Rivan’s workforce.

Felker said it was part of Rivian’s continued work to resize itself to align with its business priorities.

“This was a difficult decision, but a necessary one to support our goal to be gross margin positive by the end of the year,” Felker said.

These layoffs are in addition to the ones the company had previously announced in February when it announced it was reducing its salaried workforce by 10%.

Rivian stated that none of these layoffs are expected to affect hourly manufacturing workers.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
