Fatal car crash Tuesday night in Farmer City

FARMER CITY – One person died in a two vehicle accident Tuesday night in Farmer City, according to the DeWitt County Coroner’s office.

James Allen Kirkland, IV, of Victoria, Illinois was pronounced dead at the scene around 6:20 p.m., according to DeWitt County Coroner Randy Rice.

Authorities said the accident happened at the intersection of Rosewood Road and Depot Road in Farmer City.

According to a news release, Kirkland was travelling north bound on Rosewood Road and the other vehicle was travelling westbound on Depot Road. Kirkland did not stop at the stop sign and the westbound road had no stop sign. Both vehicles came to rest in the field.

The driver of the other vehicle was life flighted to a local hospital.

The incident is still under investigation.
